MAA Special Seminars Series

Seminar Updates

MAA’s 2008 seminar series featured an August 27th seminar hosted by Matt Foti, MCA on the “Forgotten Practices with New Technology: How to transplant large trees using the bare root method.” Mike Furgal, MCA demonstrated this technique to more than 100 members, and Matt addressed the group on best planting practices. It was a great day of hands-on education in a beautiful setting.

On July 14, 2009, about 100 MAA members gathered at Elm Bank in Wellesley, MA for A Day of Safety Training. The weather cooperated as participants rotated through a series of rapid-fire Safety Training Stations. The focal point of the seminar was Asplundh’s interactive Volts Wagon where electrical hazard awareness training was
offered. Additional Safety Stations featured the safe operation and use of the latest chippers, stump grinders, chain saws, ropes, and sprayers. All reports indicate that the format was successful and the safety training was beneficial. More than a few veteran tree care professionals mentioned that they came away from the seminar with new information.
